Polly: Protesting nurses incident has virtually no effect on voting intentions
Biggest reaction coming from NDP and Liberal supporters
For Immediate Release:
OTTAWA, ONTARIO, May 20th, 2022 – The AI Polly™ has examined the reaction to a video that emerged this week depicting an incident between Doug Ford’s team and nurses who were protesting against him has had little effect on predicted seat counts or popular vote in the election.
“Over 90% of the posts about the video were written by Liberal, NDP and Green supporters, who were not going to vote for Ford anyway, and therefore there is no change to either popular support or seat count as a result of this incident” said Erin Kelly, CEO of Advanced Symbolics Inc, the company behind the AI Polly.
Of the people discussing the incident, Polly identified 8.33% as PC supporters before the incident, and these people now appear to have changed their affiliation to one of the other parties. However, because the engagement on the topic was low overall, it will not affect the popular support or seat count for the Conservatives. Less than 1% of people in Polly’s social media sample are showing concern for this topic.
Polly’s Ontario election sample contains 200,667 and is a randomized, controlled, representative sample of Ontario’s voting-age population. Her daily seat projection and popular vote projection can be seen here: https://advancedsymbolics.com/ontario-election/
